Data Security and Strategy Planning with the
Defense Technical Information Center

Acolyst was tasked to help the CIO at Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) to improve data security due to government requirements. As the research and engineering hub for the Department of Defense (DoD), DTIC shares almost 4 million technical records with other agencies – so data security is a major concern. Acolyst helped DTIC gain insight into their security infrastructure by outlining how data was stored and passed between agencies and understand who had access to the data and at which security levels. Together with the DTIC CIO, Acolyst created a strategy plan to ensure seamless, secure data flow between agencies.

Acolyst successfully helped create an integrated and collaborative security plan to share almost 4 million technical records across agencies.

Enhanced IT Performance & Strategy Planning with the
United States Postal Service

Acolyst supported the Office of the CIO at the United States Postal Services (USPS) when tasked to improve IT responsiveness to other USPS departments and initiatives, including finance, marketing, auditing and compliance. Acolyst worked through a thorough gap analysis at the CIO level of the USPS and then created a strategy map that linked their current state with their desired short-term and long-term IT goals.

Acolyst successfully helped create a documented, measurable, actionable strategy plan to improve IT responsiveness and collaboration for an agency that touches 155.4 billion pieces of mail annually and generates approximately $68 billion in revenue.

Data Management & Reporting with the
Federal Aviation Administration

Acolyst helped the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) ABA Office improve their efficiency and effectiveness when reporting key financial and performance data to the administration, Congress, and stakeholders. The ABA (Office of the Assistant Administrator for Financial Services / Chief Financial Officer) manages the FAA’s approximately $16 billion budget while overseeing and maintaining financial systems, policy, and reporting. Acolyst’s documentation, analysis, and strategic recommendations, enabled the ABA to better serve the public by harnessing their data and metrics.

Legal & Case Management Solution with the
Social Security Administration

Acolyst worked with the Office of General Counsel (OGC) of the Social Security Administration (SSA) to implement a legal and case management solution to more efficiently track and report an enormous volume of program and case litigation cases and program and general law matters. The SSA, which pays more than $65 billion in Federal benefits each month, has tens of thousands of open cases at a given time and needed a mechanism to report information as necessary to the Office of the President, Congress, Department of Justice (DOJ), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), General Services Administration (GSA), National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Veterans Administration (VA), Department of Labor (DOL), and many others. Acolyst utilized its methodology to gain insight into the potential impacts to the people, processes and technology affected by such a system, devise an actionable strategy map, and establish performance reporting to help SSA achieve their goal.

The Result

Acolyst successfully helped with smooth implementation of a legal and case management system able to track and report upon 17,000 open cases at a given time.

Agile Performance Reporting with the
Defense Logistics Agency

Acolyst worked with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to create a mission critical business continuity plan. The DLA, a DoD agency, provides the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, other federal agencies and partner nation armed forces with a full spectrum of logistics, acquisition and technical services. They needed a Disaster Recovery / Continuity of Operations report that would help them make instant, informed decisions in the event of a disaster or unforeseen event. It was crucial for Acolyst and the DLA to take into account various business areas to ensure that the technology and business areas had a “back-up” plan that was tested, documented, updated and ready to go in case of emergency.

Integrating Two Siloed Teams at the
Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation

Acolyst led a team at Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), a federal government agency that protects retirement incomes of more than 41 million Americans, to fully integrate two major departments within the agency – the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) and the Department of Insurance Supervision and Compliance (DISC). These two departments were functioning separately and needed to be integrated. Acolyst helped affected personnel to adopt the proper mindset for change, gained insight into impacted processes and technology, and devised and implemented a plan to successfully take two previously siloed departments and consolidate them into a joint group.
