Acolyst led a team at Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), a federal government agency that protects the retirement incomes of more than 41 million Americans, to fully integrate two major departments within the agency – the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) and the Department of Insurance Supervision and Compliance (DISC). These two departments were functioning separately and needed to be integrated. Now referred to as The Office of Negotiations and Restructuring (ONR), they manage single-employer and multiemployer plan insurance programs; administer financial and actuarial analyses, and negotiate with underfunded plans to properly address PBGC’s and the insurance programs’ risk exposure; reviews and acts on reportable events; and recommends involuntary and voluntary plan terminations under the single-employer program. 

Acolyst helped affected personnel to adopt the proper mindset for change, gained insight into impacted processes and technology, and devised and implemented a plan to successfully take two previously siloed departments and consolidate them into a joint group.

It is now called the Risk Management Early Warning (RMEW) system that provides case management features, efficient document management capability, increased data quality, automated workflows, and enhanced search and reporting capabilities. 

Now, RMEW is a solution supporting financial case management and legal matter management business processes across several departments including the Multiemployer Program Division (MEPD), the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC), the Negotiations and Restructuring Actuarial Division (NRAD), and Corporate Finance and Restructuring Department (CFRD).
